Emprender en Perú: ¿Oportunidad o desafío?

Starting a business in Peru: Opportunity or challenge?

Mantoro was born in 2017 with a clear idea: to create functional and elegant products that accompany modern people in their daily lives. What we didn't imagine was the level of resilience we would need to remain strong in one of the most unstable contexts in Latin America.

Over the past eight years, Peru has experienced more than six changes of government , health crises, social polarization, inflation, and growing distrust of institutions. For many, these factors are synonymous with chaos. For entrepreneurs, they are also daily challenges.

What we learned: Resisting is designing with purpose

At Mantoro, we decided not to pause. On the contrary, these years have taught us to:

  • Diversify materials : We offer both cowhide and vegan leather to adapt to the preferences of a more conscious and changing consumer.

  • Committing to local production : Working with Peruvian labor not only boosts the domestic economy, but also allows us to take care of every detail with quality.

  • Innovate from scarcity : Many of our best products were born not from abundance, but from the need to do more with less.

Is Peru fertile ground for entrepreneurship?

The answer is not simple.
On the one hand, political disorder, taxes, informality, and lack of state support seem to be working against them.
But on the other hand, Peruvians have developed a unique ability to adapt, reinvent themselves, and bring ideas to life with limited resources and a great deal of ingenuity.

Mantoro has grown not because it's in the ideal country, but because we believe in what we do and share it with people who value quality, identity, and consistency.

Starting a business in Peru is an act of courage.

And today, looking back, we celebrate not just sales or figures.
We celebrate having endured. We celebrate every person who believed in us when we were just taking our first steps.
